Tell the FDA to End the Ban on Gay Blood Donors

Tell the US Department of Health and Human Services to end the ban on blood donations from men who have sex with men. End the ban on gay blood. Write the FDA’s Advisory Committee on Blood and Tissue Safety and Availability at [email protected] and tell them that the proposal is inadequate and unscientific and that the ban should be completely overturned.

Why is this important?

Federal regulations prohibit gay, bisexual, and men who have sex with men from coming to the aid of neighbors, families, friends (and even strangers) by prohibiting them from donating blood. For people of faith, giving blood can be a holy act. Current screening methods and evidence-based practices keep the blood supply safe. Regulation and policy based on stigma and outdated approaches has no place in government blood safety policy.
